Gone From My Sight

Wed Jun 25, 2008, 6:32 AM
  • Mood: Lazy
  • Listening to: The highway outside my house
  • Reading: An RP Log
  • Watching: The computer screen
  • Playing: Alone
  • Eating: A much needed cookie
  • Drinking: Water.
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side
spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and
starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty
and strength. I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where
the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!"

"Gone where?"

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in
mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and
she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her
destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the
moment when someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout: "Here she comes!"

And that is dying.

I'm sorry to say that a few days ago, my grandmother, Mom-Mom Mary Slusar died at the age of 87. I was pretty close to her, especially these past few years while she waws living at our house. She played a big part in my young life and I am glad to have known her. I loved her and I'm going to miss her. But by the same token, I'm just relieved she's at peace now.

Unfortunately, I'm putting all my art projects on hold for now. I need to be there for my family, especially my mother, whom is taking this the hardest.

SIDE B will return on Sunday night, with an extra bonus episode for all to make up for the lapse.

Please keep a warm thought in your heart for the three children she has left behind on earth; My mother Pat, my aunt Lynn, and my uncle Tommy.

I miss you mom-mom...

That's one of the most beautiful analogies for dying I've heard, Nagi. I'll be praying for you, and your family.

Life is too short and too precious to waste by hating another for petty reasons. Let us look past gender, race and religion and all come to the understanding that we are all the same under our skin.

I'm sorry to hear about that - but at least she lived a really long life :)

And we were laughing at the stars
While our feet clung tight to the ground.
So pleased with ourselves
For using so many verbs and nouns.
I'm so sorry. Sounds like she had lots of people who loved her, you included.

Sorry to hear that. It's never easy when a family member is gone.
